Responsible Choice
Awaken your tastebuds with a selection of locally, organically produced beverages from wine to cider on this small-group tour.
The laid-back community on Salt Spring Island is well known for its talented and passionate artisans, particularly its food and drink makers. On this five-hour tour, you’ll focus on the drinks, visiting local wineries and other drinks producers, along with a few food stops. A lunch stop is included at a café, though the cost isn’t included.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel, or your pick-up spot of choosing, before getting started on your journey. Typically, the tour visits about six establishments which include wineries, cideries, a brewery, a distillery, and a cheesemaker. You’ll be able to taste the difference of locally made products and the varying processes used to make the drinks. You may also visit a local bread maker, depending on the season and day of the week.
Your guide will share local stories and give an overview of Salt Spring Island’s history on the journey. If you particularly enjoy any beverages, there’s a cool box in the van to keep any purchases chilled until you get back to your hotel.
The company chosen has several eco-friendly vehicles from a small, plug-in hybrid, to vans that use waste oil from local restaurants. They also reduce their environmental impact in other ways, such as installing solar panels, harvesting rainwater for washing vehicles, and donating 1% of sales to Salt Spring Island Conservancy.
