Take to the skies to capture the full scale of the Thousand Islands and their private mansions.
As the name suggests, the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence River form of a group of more than 1800 islands. One of the best ways to see this scattering of forested islands is from the air. On this tour there’s a maximum of three people per helicopter, so you're sure of an intimate experience, and you may even join the pilot in the front.
As you take off on this 30-minute tour, you'll see the full scale of the region, with its tiny islands with their private homes, the small town of Gananoque, and the greenery, beaches and rocky cliffs that make up the region. Your journey takes you over the Admiralty Group, Navy Group and Lake Fleet Group of islands, named for ships and officers of the Royal Navy by the British.
You'll then pass over two castles built simultaneously, Boldt and Singer. Singer Castle is the only castle still existing that was completed and lived in, originally named The Towers. Boldt Castle is a six floor, 120 room grand castle that was originally built as a gift of love for George Boldt’s wife, Louise. The project was abandoned when Louise suddenly died.
As you continue, you’ll see the clear waters of the St. Lawrence River, and deep down in the transparent waters, discover the Pentland and Georger Shipwrecks tangled together. You'll also fly over the five sister bridges which connect Canada and the USA, experiencing the landscape of part of the world's longest unguarded border.
