Rooms

The property has ocean-view, treehouse, and beachfront bures decorated in traditional Fijian designs with fresh white linens. The resort’s focus is on switching off, relaxing and enjoying the natural environment, so there’s no TV, phones or Wi-Fi in the rooms. But, rooms do have all the other standard amenities you would expect, including air conditioning, king sized-beds, a private veranda/patio, and in-room safes.

Location

Matangi Private Island Resort sits on a small, secluded island in northeastern Fiji. It overlooks a white-sand beach with views over surrounding islands such as Qamea, and has a house reef directly offshore. Horseshoe Bay — an isolated bay with a protected shoreline and bright turquoise water on the western coast of Matangi Island — can be reached by boat.

Food and drink

There’s one restaurant at Matangi Private Island Resort and all meals are served here. It offers great-quality food with Fijian-influenced ingredients such as fresh fish, taro (a root vegetable), and breadfruit. The dining room is situated at the heart of the resort and it has 270-degree views of the sandy beach and ocean.

This is an adults-only resort.

Facilities and activities

A range of activities are included in your stay, from catamaran sailing and paddleboarding to fishing, kayaking and walking tours around the island.

The resort’s pool sits in the middle of the resort, overlooking the beach. You can wade out from the beach and go snorkelling on the house reef.

You can also take a private boat trip to Horseshoe Bay.
