Tour Highlights

  • Tour of the picturesque Inle Lake by boat.
  • Visit the shrine on Mount Popa, Bagan.
  • Spend two nights cruising downriver to Mandalay.

This tour visits Burma's capital, Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, the colonial hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin, and the stilted villages of Inle Lake. The October tour has been timed to coincide with the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda festival on Inle Lake, and also takes in a visit to the Green Hill Valley elephant camp.

This detailed itinerary has been planned by our Regional Manager for Burma, Kate, as well as experienced country specialist, Angela, both of whom have travelled to the country many times with Audley, visiting many of the more remote areas. We always include a two night cruise, which traverses the Ayeyarwaddy River between Bagan and Mandalay, as well as a visit to the school that Audley rebuilt with the help of contributions from staff and clients following Cyclone Nargis in May 2008. Nearer to your departure time we will be able to give you a list of useful items that you may wish to take with you to donate to the school.

We are also offering an optional hot air balloon flight over Bagan at sunrise which is a wonderful way to get a different perspective of the temples here.

PRICES: Please note that prices for Classic Burma may vary slightly in the same year due to the season you travel and the levels of accommodation.

What makes an Audley Group Tour?

We design each of our group tours with the same philosophy as our tailor-made journeys - trips that allow you to explore the highlights of a country, while getting beneath the surface to discover the real people, places and cultures.
