Sands Suites Resort
Large enough to have a great range of facilities but small enough to offer a more intimate experience than the large resorts, Sands Suites offers guests excellent value for money as well as easy access to lively bars and restaurants and some of Mauritius' most scenic mountains and gorges.
Set in a secluded position at the quiet end of a popular west coast beach, guests at Sands Suites can relax in peace, swim in sheltered seas and enjoy gorgeous views over the dramatic Le Morne Peninsula. Yet you'll also have the convenience of the wide choice of shops, restaurants and bars in Flic en Flac just a short drive away. The resort offers a surprising number of facilities for its size with a variety of complimentary water sports, an on-site dive centre and a great choice of dining. There are three restaurants to choose from or you can opt to go next door to Maradiva, a sister resort, or head into town. You may choose to spend your time simply lazing by the infinity pool, take a sunset cruise or walk through the forest to local villages.
The 91 bright and spacious rooms are set in three storey buildings around the gardens. Decor is fresh and modern with air-conditioning throughout, private balconies or terraces, and direct access to the gardens from the ground floor suites.
Before the beach - 4 days
Dubai is a real melting pot of old meets new and a stay in the Creekside hotels, will offer you a glimpse of this as you ride on the majestic dhows to the gold souks, spice markets and then travel further into Downtown. Take a 4x4 trip into the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve and enjoy a typical Bedouin feast before the sun dips and the desert is bathed in an orange glow.
The Hilton Dubai Creek has fantastic city views and a rooftop pool from which you can gaze out at the skyline and at the creek below. With 150 rooms it’s much more intimate than the very large hotels common in Dubai and if you fancy a change of scenery, there is also a shuttle service to and from Jumeirah beach.
Sands Suites Resort

This great value resort sits on the west coast of the island on a quiet beach near Flic en Flac with views over Le Morne peninsula. It's also well placed for exploring the island with the beautiful scenery of Black River Gorges National Park within about an hour's drive.
Although it only has 91 rooms, the hotel has a surprisingly wide range of facilities with a great choice of dining and a variety of complimentary water sports.
The hotel welcome guests of all ages and families can use the children's club at Maradiva Villas Resort, a sister property next door. The club is open from 9am to 6pm for children aged 4-12 years. Babysitting is also available for a local charge.
The resort is located at the southernmost end of Flic en Flac beach on the west coast. The soft, white sand beach overlooks the dramatic scenery of Le Morne peninsula and there is a swimming area sheltered by rocks.
Although it is within 5-10 minute drive of the shops, restaurants and bars of Flic en Flac it has a quiet location that feels quite secluded.
This comfortable and welcoming resort offers great value and a handy location on the west coast that combines a lovely beach with the convenience of the wide choice of shops, restaurants and bars at Flic en Flac.
The 91 rooms are spacious with a fresh modern décor and are set in three storey buildings among the gardens. Each has a balcony or terrace and offer air-conditioning, minibar, Wi-Fi and tea/coffee facilities.
These rooms are set closer to the beach with a balcony or terrace and 52 sq m of open plan space.
Deluxe Suites are the same as Superior Suites inside with 52 sq m of space but are set on the ground floor with a terrace opening out into the gardens.
Superior Suites are a spacious 52 sq m open plan room and are set on the first and second floor.

Activities, diving & excursions
As well as the beachfront pool there is a wide range of complimentary water sports including sailing, waterskiing, kayaks, pedalo, windsurfing, stand up paddle boarding, wake boarding and glass bottom boat trips.
On land there are two floodlit tennis courts, a small fitness room, table tennis and bicycles are available for rental. Beginners' yoga and meditation classes are available free while more advanced classes are charged locally.
For golf enthusiasts, the 18 hole Tamarina Golf Course is just 20 minutes’ drive away. Guests who would like to explore can walk through the woods to Tamarin village about 45 minutes to the south.
There is a dive counter at the hotel where guests can arrange diving trips organised by a dive centre based at a resort a few minutes' drive away.
There is a range of 20 dive sites to explore, from sites for the novice to those more suited to experienced divers and night dives, an introduction to scuba and refresher lessons can also be arranged.
Food & drink
There is a great choice of dining for guests staying at the resort.
Tamarind Terrace is the main restaurant, open for buffet breakfast and buffet dinner including international and local dishes and meals here are included in the standard meal plan.
Pink Peppercorn is set on the beach under the shade of a couple of the trees with a view across the water to Le Morne peninsula. It is open for lunch daily and for dinner twice a week serving a variety of dishes including fresh fish.
Spices is open for dinner serving an à la carte menu of Mediterranean dishes with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients while the Dolphin Bar set at the centre of the resort serves light snacks and drinks throughout the day.
Guests can also dine at three restaurants at the Maradiva resort next door with the hotel's dine around programme. Flic en Flac, a short drive away, offers a further wide range of dining.
The main restaurant, Tamarind Terrace, is the one included in the standard meal plan however those dining at the other restaurants mentioned will receive a credit to put toward their meal.
The small spa is simple but smart with four treatment rooms where you can enjoy a range of treatments including Ayurvedic treatments. It also has a sauna and hammam that are free for all guests.

This great value hotel is set in Dubai’s bustling Creekside area. Only 15 minutes drive from the airport, yet within easy reach of many of Dubai’s attractions it is a good base for a few days' stopover in Dubai.
The small, rooftop pool has great views over Dubai and the hotel has 2 restaurants: Glasshouse, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a fine dining restaurant open in the evenings. The hotel has 155 rooms. Standard rooms are smart and spacious while Deluxe rooms are a little larger.
Day by day
Board your flight to Dubai. On arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel.
Hilton Dubai Creek has a great location with views over the city and Dubai Creek where you can watch the traditional Dhow boats crossing the river.
You may wish to catch a dhow this morning across the creek and explore the gold souq and the spice market. From here you could head to the Bastakiya district for a look at the Dubai museum and a traditional house now turned into a coffee museum.
Another day at leisure to explore Dubai as you wish. The Downtown area is vibrant with plenty of shopping opportunities and restaurants including the huge Mall of Emirates. Or you may like to ask your specialist to arrange a walking tour to explore more of the city.
This afternoon you will be collected from your hotel and driven to the desert to enjoy a sunset dune dinner safari.
A private car will take you back to the airport in time for your flight to Mauritius.
On arrival in Mauritius, our representative will meet you and take you to your driver for the private road transfer to Sands Suites Resort.
Settle in and enjoy your first full day at leisure at the Sands Suites Resort. There are plenty of complimentary water sports available including sailing, waterskiing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Keen golfers might like to book a game of golf at the nearby Tamarin golf course. Or simply relax at the infinity pool or on the beach, enjoying the views of Le Morne.
If you'd like to get out and about, you can walk through the woods to Tamarin in about 45 minutes or the scenic beauty of Black River Gorges National Park is about an hour's drive away. Flic en Flac, just down the road has a range of shops and restaurants if you'd like to try dining somewhere different.
The majority of Mauritius' population are of Indian heritage and today you will be collected from your hotel for your private, guided tour discovering Mauritius' Indian roots. Visit Appravasi Ghat, where the Indian labourers arrived to work in the sugar cane fields, and now a UNESCO site. You will also go to Port Louis' spice market and visit Kailasson Hindu temple as well as stopping at a local house to see traditional samoussas being made. Lunch at a local Hindu family's home is a sampling of the seven curries traditionally served at an Indo-Mauritian wedding and then your day finishes at the sacred lake and Hindu temple at Grand Bassin.
Days 8 - 10
Today you will be collected from the hotel for the private road transfer back to the airport, in time for your overnight flight home.
