Katima Mulilo is the major centre in the Caprivi region and situated on the banks of the Zambezi.
It's a lively, but pleasant town with a bustling market and most of the facilities that you are likely to need.
Caprivi Arts Centre
The area is highly populated with scattered settlements of subsistence farmers cultivating mahangu and other crops, tending their cattle or living off freshwater fish. Over the past few years, crafts have become an important income generator for the community. We can recommend visiting the Caprivi Arts Centre when passing through town.
Boat trips on Zambezi River
The Katima has few intrinsic attractions, although the lodges along the Zambezi are very pleasant places to stay at. Should you have time in town, we suggest you use it for trips on the river.
Travelling to this relatively unknown region is a side of Namibia seldom seen, but always memorable.
