Whirinaki Forest Park

Whirinaki Eco-Culture Walk

This full day walk into one of New Zealand's most remarkable native forests takes you to the heart of the Urewera Ranges.

Your guide will introduce you to the cultural and historical points of significance as you walk for about four hours between the enormous native trees to the Whirinaki Falls, and during your visit to the Department of Conservation Centre. The Jurassic canopy provided by giant totara, matai, miro, kahikatea and rimu trees supports a wealth of bird and wildlife.

On the return walk you will stop off at a natural thermal hot pool for a relaxing soak.
