Rooms
The hotel's luxurious 96 rooms, villas, cottages, and beachfront bungalows offer exceptional opulence and space. Each enjoys its own secluded garden or courtyard area, with private plunge pool and butler service. Decor is the height of contemporary Caribbean sophistication, with white-on-white interiors, four-poster beds and furnishings contrasting with striking dark wood flooring.
The Sugar Mill guest rooms have the advantage of being a short walk from public areas, however the Luxury Beachfront Bungalows are better located, just steps from the water's edge on the white sands of Sugar Beach. Most of the rooms are located way up in the hillside: expect amazing views and more stunning white interiors, but you'll be dependent on colourful Thai tuk-tuks or minibuses to shuttle you around. From Luxury Villas sleeping two adults, up to the two-bedroom Grand Luxury villas for extended families, these accommodations are simply breathtaking. For something extra special, consider the top-of-the-range Beachfront Collection, luxurious four-bedroom homes located behind the second beach with infinity pools and an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
All rooms feature a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, an iPod docking station, a coffee maker and a fridge. All rooms come with complimentary Piton beer, soda and water.
Location
Nestled between Lucia’s iconic Pitons on a former sugar plantation, Sugar Beach is perched on the west coast of the island in a cove with its own private beach, approximately 45 minutes away from the airport.
Food and drink
The resort offers a superb selection of dining choices with four different restaurants and bars. Breakfast is served at the Terrace restaurant, set in the elegant Great House. Enjoy relaxed alfresco meals at the beachside Bayside Bar and Restaurant and Caribbean-influenced dining at the Great Room or head to the Cane Bar, a speciality rum bar, for sushi platters and an Asian-themed menu. On Glenconner Beach there's Pier Bar, where light lunches and drinks are served with close-up views of the Pitons either side of you. During the day, Afternoon tea and evening drinks are served in the Palm Court Lounge. Romantic private dining experiences are also available with tiki torchlights on the beach or under the stars on your own private terrace.
Families
For children aged 4-12 years old, The Sugar Club offers a complimentary programme of supervised daytime activities, some in the children's club room, others out on the estate (nature walks and treasure hunts, for example). There are also lots of activities for all ages, including water sports, volleyball, badminton and tennis.
Facilities and activities
The hotel has its own water sports centre, where you can try things like windsurfing, wake-boarding, sailing, kayaking and snorkeling. There’s also a PADI-certified scuba diving centre, giving you the option to explore the dozens of nearby coral reefs and shipwrecks.
Other facilities include a vast communal swimming pool, a memorable spa with eight treehouse treatment rooms offering breathtaking views from their unique tree-top locations, tennis courts and beach volleyball.
