Kisima Ngeda Camp
Kisima Ngeda Camp, Lake Eyasi, Tanzania
Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp is a small safari camp perched on the edge of the lovely Lake Eyasi in the heart of the Great Rift Valley. As the soda lake is seasonal, during the drier months there may be little water, but the upside of this is the soda which attracts some lovely birdlife. Beyond the lake is the Rift Valley escarpment, rising high and leading to the Ngorongoro Crater. The camp itself is situated on the shore of the lake, amongst acacia and date palm vegetation and is part of a 200 acre family-owned farm. There are seven tents here, situated on wooden platforms and with thatched roofs. They are proper walk-in tents, with en suite bathrooms with showers, and whilst simple in their design, they are perfectly comfortable.
The area is home to the Wahadzabe tribe, a fascinating group of nomadic bushmen who speak the unusual click-language. These hunter-gatherers add a fascinating cultural aspect to the region and the chance to interact with them and learn more about their ancient traditions makes a stay at Kisima Ngeda really unique.
