Set in beautiful landscaped gardens, Sepilok Nature Resort is one of the best options in the area. The gardens offer an amazing array of tropical plants and grasses, as well as a collection of more than 150 different species, including Asian orchid varieties. The resort's main building, which houses the restaurant, has been built with a traditional wooden interior reflecting a truly natural setting. Being so close to the sanctuary guests are able to visit easily, increasing the chance of seeing orangutans throughout the day.
All 23 chalets have verandas with beautiful lake or jungle views, and private bathrooms with hot water. Some rooms at this property are raised off the ground on stilts - the height of the drop varies depending on where the room is located. Due to the design of the balcony balustrade, this could present a hazard to young children. We will request a suitable room for your booking, but this cannot be guaranteed. Please let us know if you are uncomfortable with this.
Being so close to the sanctuary guests are able to visit easily, increasing the chance of seeing orangutans throughout the day. It does however limit access to Sandakan, though the real draw of the area is Sepilok.
Food and Drink
Whilst the food is fine it is fairly simple, and is not the main focus when visiting the area. The resort has a pleasant restaurant which is a nice spot to enjoy an evening meal.
The resort offers a family chalet for those with younger children.
