Situated on a community-run concession bordering Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai Tented Camp blends in with its natural surroundings. It offers a range of activities, as well as exceptionally welcoming and attentive staff.
A fantastic unassuming little camp, Hyena Pan caters to all types of safari-goer. Situated in a game rich part of the Khwai Concession, the camp is regularly visited by a plethora of wildlife so you don't even have to venture out for exciting sightings. A classic tented camp with just the right level of comfort without going over the top, the whole atmosphere here is relaxed, friendly and focused on the animals.

There are nine simple but comfortable tents at Hyena Pan, seven of which overlook the waterhole to the front of camp and two are set slightly further away and have views into the bush. Each tent has either twin or double beds, standing fans, a selection of plug sockets and an electronic safe. One tent is wheelchair friendly.
The community run Khwai Concession borders the famous Moremi Wildlife Reserve and Chobe National Park. The camp is just 12km north of the Khwai River which attracts a lot of game throughout the year. Hyena Pan is set within a private reserve in the north of the concession so benefits from a degree of exclusivity and some of the very best game viewing in the region. Access is via light aircraft to a nearby airstrip and you can then enjoy a game drive into camp.
Food and drink
Delicious, wholesome meals are served here. Breakfast is generally eaten around a fire where the porridge and toast is cooked to order, lunch is under the shade of the Cathedral mopane trees that surround camp and dinner can be enjoyed in the boma under a blanket of African stars. Dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.
Children over the age of six are welcome at Hyena Pan but they have to be over 12 to join a walking safari. Tents can accommodate a third bed for younger children sharing with parents if necessary.
Facilities and activities
There is a small plunge pool in the camp, ideal for a cooling dip on hot days. Dotted around camp are various viewpoints of the pan and waterhole that is often host to bathing elephant and plenty of birds. Activities included in your stay are morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, guided walks are available on request and the camp also has a ground level hide which offers wonderful photographic opportunities.
There are two rooms that are slightly separate from the rest that offer a touch more privacy, but not quite such a good view. We prefer the excitement of looking over the waterhole rather than into the bush but we can request one of the more private rooms if you would like.
