Lomas del Volcan is a rustic, lodge-style hotel in a great location. Set in peaceful, tropical gardens away from the town, the hotel's accommodation is in simple but comfortable wooden cabins dotted around the well-maintained grounds which, although somewhat hilly, attract a good variety of birds and boast wonderful views of the volcano when the weather is clear.
The emphasis here is on appreciating the great outdoors and the local wildlife, with a wide diversity of plants and animals found in the area.
The wooden cabins have a warm, rustic style, each featuring two terraces with excellent views of the volcano and rainforest. Amenities include two queen size beds, cable TV, en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, safes, minibars and coffee making facilities. The Bungalow Deluxe option differs from the entry level cabins in that it has its own Jacuzzi on the balcony, a king size bed, Wi-Fi access and a hairdryer. Its location at the top of the property provides additional privacy, surrounded by a pleasant garden area.
Situated approximately four kilometers from the center of La Fortuna town, Lomas del Volcan enjoys a peaceful location close to the base of the Arenal Volcano. To reach the town itself, taxis can easily be arranged and the journey takes approximately ten minutes. However, all tour companies pick up from the hotel so you'll probably only venture into the town should you wish to try some different bars or restaurants.
A daily buffet breakfast is served in the main restaurant where, in additional to continental options, you can opt to try local tropical fruits and the Costa Rican speciality gallo pinto (mixed rice and beans). The restaurant also opens for lunch and dinner, serving local and international cuisine. The hotel’s bar, El Volcan, serves beer, South American wines and a variety of cocktails including the local 'moonshine mojito', made from a Costa Rican sugarcane spirit.
The hotel’s swimming pool is a great place to cool down and enjoy views of the volcano on a clear day, and there's an adjacent covered Jacuzzi. Guests can also explore the 1.5 kilometer nature trail within the grounds, which is a great way to enjoy the hotel’s pristine surroundings. A massage service is available, and there's parking space for guests who are self-driving.
The property offers rooms that are suitable for guests with restricted mobility.
