La Casona is housed in an 18th century colonial mansion. It offers comfortable, airy rooms set around a beautiful central courtyard with wooden balustrades and wrapped in green foliage.
Accommodation is light, airy and spacious, with polished wooden floors, hand-carved furniture and large windows with shutters creating a homely, rustic feel. Combining original colonial features with modern comforts, a stay here gives you a real glimpse of historic Quito.
The hotel’s rooms are set around the charming central courtyard, on the second and third floors. They span six categories, differing in their views, with some looking out to La Ronda Street, some to the interior patio and some to the vertical garden. All are decorated in a colonial style with polished wooden floors and period furniture. They feature private bathrooms, cable TV, Wi-Fi and sound-proof windows, with the Serenata King room also featuring a balcony. Four rooms offer king size beds, while the Jardin Full room has two doubles and the Clasica Extra King room has the option of either a king size bed or two doubles.
The hotel is located on the historic La Ronda street, a characterful and artisan district of Quito’s UNESCO-protected historic center. The street has a growing number of cafés, restaurants and handicraft workshops, so is a lovely place to explore. Some of the city’s key historic sights are just a short walk away.
The hotel’s ground floor restaurant serves a daily buffet breakfast, but also opens for lunch and dinner, serving Ecuadorian and international cuisine. The advantage of this location, however, is the choice of different dining options a relatively short walk from your hotel.
Being a converted 18th century house, the main communal spaces are the hotel’s courtyard and a small lounge on the top floor, where you can relax with a book and admire the views of the old town’s rooftops from the panoramic window. There are complimentary tea and coffee making facilities next to the reception, and a laundry service is available on request.
Although the hotel’s location on a lively street can cause some minor disturbance at weekends, La Casona de la Ronda is still one of our favorite hotels for an affordable and characterful base in Quito.
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favorite places to stay.
