Mushara Outpost, Etosha National Park

Mushara Outpost

Etosha National Park, Namibia

Mushara Outpost is a small tented camp accommodating just 16 guests. The Outpost's main area is built in the style of an old farmhouse with tall walls, a corrugated iron roof and a large wraparound veranda offering plenty of shade and views across the bush. Marc and Mariza Pampe, the owners, have created the feeling of a much-loved home: friendly, warm and comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere and personalized service.

Tents are spaced out around the grounds on raised wooden decks, offering guests the chance to enjoy the surrounding landscape and wildlife in peace and privacy.

OUR OPINION:

Situated to the east of Etosha National Park, we think Mushara Outpost is a stylish and comfortable option, offering a warm ambience and a comfortable but authentic bush experience.

Rooms

Each of the en suite tents is raised 1.5 meters from the ground and connected to the main area via a walkway. They feature air conditioning and large glass windows with lovely views of the surrounding bush. The large double beds feature mosquito nets, and the glass sliding door is protected with a fly screen. Furnishings are simple, adding to the authentic bush camp feel, but each tent does feature modern amenities such as a minibar, safe, hair dryer, coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi access. Private verandas allow you to sit out and enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings.

Location

The camp is situated ten kilometers from the Von Lindequist Gate of Etosha National Park, and two kilometers from Mushara Lodge — Mushara’s original property. Set on the bank of a dry riverbed, it appeals to those seeking a traditional safari camp tucked away in the bush. The national park spans over 22,000 square kilometers and is home to a wide variety of bird, mammal, reptile and amphibian species.

Food and drink

Tasty African fare can be enjoyed around the large dining table in the main building, allowing you to socialize with fellow guests. There’s also a boma area outside the main building where you can enjoy sundowners.

Facilities and activities

At the camp, guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool and relax on the sun loungers after a game drive. Activities focus on exploring Etosha, with scheduled and private game drives offered. You’ll be accompanied by knowledgeable guides, who will help point out wildlife on the plains or by the waterholes, including giraffe, zebra, elephant, lion, black-backed jackal, wildebeest and springbok, as well as 340 bird species.
