Onguma Tree Top Camp is situated on the eastern side of Etosha, bordering Fischer's Pan. The camp is located on the private Onguma Reserve, a 20,000 ha reserve with savannah, bushveld and dry pan. Whilst small, the reserve has 30 different animal species.
Plains game roam freely and predators, although not easy to spot, are resident in the area. Three of the Big Five can be spotted with lion, leopard and rhino all visitors. Onguma also became part of an innovative custodianship project relating to the black rhino. Six black rhino were darted in Etosha National Park and shipped to the reserve where they are protected and monitored.
More than 300 bird species can be viewed at Onguma and the reserve boasts the biggest breeding colony of white-backed vultures in Namibia. During the summer months Onguma becomes a bird-watchers' paradise with thousands of species migrating to wetlands created by the seasonal rains. Onguma Tree Top Camp consists of four luxury tree houses built about two meters on raised platforms.
The main focus of the camp is to experience wildlife in its truest form. It is a small and intimate camp, especially designed for those travelers who would like to truly experience the bush in all its raw splendor. Activities on offer include morning and afternoon game drives into Etosha as well as night drives on the reserve and nature walks. Guests can also self-drive into Etosha National Park.
Please note, guests of Onguma are asked upon departure to make a contribution to the Onguma Haii//om Bushmen Trust. This trust has been set up to help protect the local community's traditional way of life and to provide funds for education, sustainable jobs and healthcare.
