The suites are enormous with high ceilings and draped mosquito nets over the beds, giving a feeling of Out of Africa elegance. Each suite has a lounge area, an en suite bathroom with a deep soaking tub, indoor and outdoor showers, a double-sided fireplace, a minibar and fridge, a safe, air conditioning, and overhead fans. Private decking and a plunge pool complete the exclusivity of your suite, a haven of refined opulence in the African bush.

Location

This lodge is situated on the banks of the Sand River in the western side of Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park — South Africa’s largest conservation area. Wildlife is free to roam between the reserve and the national park, so safari drives and walks give you the chance to see the Big Five as well as a diverse range of other mammal, bird, and reptile species.

Singita is known for its focus on delectable cuisine and world-class service, and at Ebony, their fantastic wine cellar.

Hot drinks and light fare are available before your morning activity. Upon return, breakfast and lunch can be enjoyed with a view of the Sand River. For an extra-special touch, meals can be arranged under Marula trees out in the bush, in the fire-lit boma, or in the privacy of your suite.

Facilities and activities

This lodge features several places to while away an afternoon. The elegant communal lounge and a library area are adorned with traditional African decor along with exquisitely comfortable leather chairs and couches. The tranquil pool area is enveloped by greenery and features a soothing waterfall and comfortable sun loungers. A well-stocked gym is available, and an extensive list of wellness treatments is on offer.

At Ebony, you have access to a remarkable amount of wildlife that thrives in the Sabi Sands reserve. Day and night drives in 4x4 safari vehicles will have you traversing the reserve’s many habitats in search of big cats, prides of lions, herds of buffaloes, elephant clans, rhinos, and, when lucky, packs of wild dogs. The diversity of habitats here attracts a vast array of birdlife, with more than 400 species recorded. Additional activities include stargazing out in the bush, interactions with anti-poaching units, birdwatching, and wine tasting.
