The 260 square kilometer Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve snakes north almost 60 kilometers from Graskop, following the escarpment and meeting the Blyde River as it carves its way down to the lowveld.

Bourke's Luck Potholes, Blyde River CanyonThe Blyde’s spectacular canyon, nearly 30 kilometers long, is one of South Africa’s scenic highlights. Along the way there are many various sights to see, including the Three Rondavels which are huge cylinders of rock with hutlike pointed ‘roofs’ rising out of the far wall of the canyon, and Bourkes Luck Potholes, weird cylindrical holes carved into the rock by whirlpools in the river. You can enjoy a walk and the views at God’s Window, which has amazing lookouts over the valley below.
