Thanda Tented Camp

Thanda, meaning Zulu for 'love', is a 14,000 hectare Big Five private game reserve dotted with beautiful yellow fever trees. The intimate tented camp consists of 15 luxury tents (twins and doubles), each with a small viewing deck and en suite bathroom.

One is a special honeymoon tent with a Jacuzzi bath on the deck. The emphasis here is on getting away from it all, so there is no Wi-Fi here, and hair dryers are not allowed to be used (due to the generators used for electricity). Some tents have a bathtub and outdoor shower, others have no bathtub but both an indoor or outdoor shower — please let your Audley specialist know if you have a preference. There is a main dining tent and a thatched sala with comfortable chairs to relax in and a swimming pool with stunning views of the reserve.

At Thanda you can enjoy a variety of activities including game drives, stargazing, and bush walks. The staff can also arrange activities outside of the reserve, including a boat trip on the estuary at iSimangaliso (Greater St Lucia) Wetlands Park, fishing, horse riding, visiting the beach, snorkeling, birding safaris, microlight flights, midnight turtle tours (November to March), kayak and canoe safaris or a visit to a traditional village.
