Moon Garden House

Moon Garden House in Ky Son offers a unique opportunity to experience rural life in Vietnam. The property was originally a summer home for a family of a Hanoi-based architect and gradually expanded with the addition of two new houses. Moon Garden offers visitors not only a peaceful escape to bustling Hanoi but an insight into life in the Vietnamese countryside that has changed little over the last century.

The architect specialises in the restoration of old buildings and this is reflected in the design, furniture and antiquities that adorn the rooms. Frangipani is the name given to the original, restored Vietnamese home and offers two en suite bedrooms as well as space for two beds in the living area. The two newer buildings — Pomelo and Mango — each have two en suite bedrooms and separate living areas which can also be used for sleeping arrangements. Moon Garden has a lovely central courtyard, with outside seating, a small pond and bonsai garden overlooking a lake and surrounding rice fields. The owners have also rescued a 100-year-old church from a neighbouring province and rebuilt it piece by piece in the grounds. All guests have a range of activities to choose from which are included in their stay.
