Hickatee Cottages

Hickatee Cottages is best described as a jungle guesthouse located close to the town of Punta Gorda in the Toledo District of southern Belize.

The property is a family run establishment owned, managed and lovingly cared for by Ian and Kate who make exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable hosts. As a small guesthouse this wonderful property is set in well-tended gardens surrounded by rainforests and has lots of character and charm offering guests very personalized and attentive service levels.

There is no restaurant on site but Kate is an excellent cook and plentiful home cooked meals are available for both breakfast and dinner, and all prepared with fresh seasonal produce from Punta Gorda market supplemented with ingredients from Hickatee's farm. Any special meal requirements must be advised in advance to allow for produce to be purchased prior to your arrival. Please note however that lunch (and dinner on Wednesday and Saturday nights) is not available at the guesthouse, but town is only a short cycle ride away where you can eat at a number of local restaurants and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of Punta Gorda.

On site guests have access to jungle nature trails as well as bikes which can be used to access town and to explore the local area. After a busy day enjoying the Toledo District and all it has to offer you can return to Hickatee to relax in a hammock or take a dip in the property's plunge pool. The owners are very passionate about the Toledo area and its people and they are keen that sustainable development and responsible tourism play an integral role in the growth of tourism.

Although it is best to book activities locally due to changeable weather, and the potential opportunity to join with other guests to do a small-group tour, this does mean that we cannot guarantee what will be available, so you may need to be flexible regarding activities on offer. If there is an excursion that you would particularly like to do in Toledo, do let us know prior to travel and we will inform the lodge.
