The Tanjung Aru is well located just outside of Kota Kinabalu center and within 20 minutes of the airport. There are 492 rooms spread over the two wings of the hotel: Kinabalu and Tanjung. The hotel has a small beach and a range of excellent facilities including good bars and restaurants. The hotel also boasts a large lagoon swimming pool, tennis courts, a jogging track, a pitch and putt golf course, a water sport center and a superb CHI spa.

There is a regular boat taking guests to some of the islands of the TAR Marine Park which lies offshore for a spot of snorkeling. All the rooms were refurnished to a high standard in 2008-9 and offer the usual range of facilities and amenities that you would expect from a property of this caliber.
