Maggie

Spain & Portugal Specialist

The joy of travel was instilled in me from a young age during trips with my family. Sometimes the new places were a car ride away; and other times it meant a flight to Ireland, Hawaii, and Italy. The heart of it was always the same — to experience new people and places.

In college I got my degree in Tourism Management & Policy, and lived abroad for a semester. During those four months I hopped on a plane as much as I could to travel around Europe. It was the best four months of my life so I set a goal to turn my passion into my career. Then I found Audley and knew it would be the perfect fit.

As a Spain and Portugal country specialist I get to work with clients who are dreaming of exploring these two beautiful countries. I’m looking forward to helping you create your next great adventure.

Q&A with Maggie

Vineyards, Douro Valley

What is your most vivid travel moment?

I was in the Douro Valley, sitting at a stunning hotel and quinta overlooking the beautiful vineyards and river. I was drinking one of their many delicious white wines while talking with my friends about the long travel day we had. I stepped outside to see the most vibrant rainbow I had ever seen. It soon formed into a double rainbow and was captivating. Those little moments while traveling always make me feel so blessed to be able to explore new countries.

Twin lakes, Sete Cidades, São Miguel

Where would you love to travel next?

The Azores have been on my list for a long time now. My great grandparents used to live on Pico Island, where there is a volcano, Ponta do Pico. It's also the highest mountain in Portugal. The island is known for its breathtaking sea views and the black volcanic soils. I plan to visit in 2024.

Giralda Tower, Seville

Your best piece of travel advice?

My best piece of travel advice is to talk with the locals. It's amazing what kind of information you can find out just by talking with people from the area you're visiting. The people I met in Spain and Portugal loved talking with me about their country and giving me all the insider information. There have been many times when traveling where I have sparked up a conversation with a local that led me to some amazing adventures. Now that I am a country specialist, I love to share those insider tips with my clients.
