Encircled by citrus groves between Catania and Taormina, the Zash Hotel is an elegant and luxurious country retreat. The owners come from an architectural background, which is evident in the creative way the original villa has been adapted into this boutique property.

There are just ten rooms, all designed with the utmost care and attention to detail, with minimalist decor and modern touches.

To the front of the main house, a sunny terrace provides space for outdoor dining, and nestled within the orange trees you’ll find a striking swimming pool and small bar area. There’s also a relaxing spa complex built into the lava-stone foundations with a hammam, sauna and indoor relaxation pool.

Rooms

The rooms at Zash Hotel are all located within the original house, wine cellar or gardens, and have been designed with the utmost care and attention to detail. All boast clean, contemporary lines, refined, minimalist decor and elegant design touches. A number of the garden rooms also have dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. All the rooms offer luxurious modern bathrooms and have been finished to the highest possible standard.

Location

Situated less than an hour from Catania Airport and around a 40-minute drive from Taormina, Zash Hotel occupies a beautiful and convenient position within the Sicilian countryside. If you’d like to base yourselves away from the bustle of Taormina, it’s an ideal place for exploring the slopes of Mount Etna or simply taking some time to relax.

Food and drink

A particular highlight is the restaurant, which has been built into the property’s original wine press. With dark exposed brickwork and a lava-stone floor, the ancient vaulted structure combines beautifully with the stylish, contemporary decor. The food here is of a particularly high standard. Breakfast is served out on the front terrace or, in cooler months, inside the restaurant. During the day, a light lunch buffet is also served beside the pool.

Facilities and activities

The large swimming pool is one of the property’s real design highlights. Surrounded by orange trees and elegant sunloungers, its sharp, clean lines make for an elegant effect. The luxurious lava-stone spa contains a warm indoor relaxation pool, hydrotherapy shower, hammam, sauna and massage treatment area.
