Circle the huge arch and stone formation of Perce Rock and head to see the 150,000 birds of Bonaventure Island.
Discover the landmark Percé Rock and the seabird sanctuary on Bonaventure Island on this cruise in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. You’ll get up close to the striking stone formation and its huge arch — one of the tallest in the world — before sailing to the island to admire its rocky beaches and abundant wildlife.
You’ll have the opportunity to disembark at Bonaventure Island and experience the cacophony of the island’s 150,000 birds at close quarters. This is one of the world’s largest colonies of northern gannets, but you may also see cormorants and puffins. The boat will dock at L'Anse à Butler, where you can see restored clapboard houses that date back to the time when the island was home to a flourishing fishing community.
On the island, you can choose to extend the time on the island if you’d prefer to take your time wandering along the paths and trails and listening to the birds. The cruise itself lasts about one hour, but if you spend time on the island it takes more like three hours. On board the boat, there is commentary in both English and French to learn more about the area.
