Follow your Metis First Nations guide into Jasper National Park in search of the bears, elk and other wildlife that call the area home.
Jasper National Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife from black and grizzly bears to the elk that roam the sides of the roads, to the elusive coyote and moose. There are many options for guided tours in the park, and you’re often likely to see wildlife while out and about yourself, however, this exclusive tour company is by far the most passionate and knowledgeable.
Owned by local Métis guide Joe, and his wife Patti, who have lived in the mountains for more than 20 years, they take great pride in taking guests off the beaten path to discover the region's wildlife away from the crowds.
On this three-hour driving-based tour you’ll cover large areas in the search for wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for bears ambling across the road, mountain sheep grazing in the fields between mountains, and moose hiding in the forests.
Along the way, Joe will tell you about the animals and the ecosystem that supports them, stories of the Métis peoples and their history in Jasper National Park, and there will also be plenty of opportunities to get out of the vehicle to take in the scenery and to take photographs.
Beginning and ending by the totem pole in downtown Jasper, the tour typically lasts three to four hours, as Joe will make the most of the time to get the best sightings for the group.
