Domaine des hauts de Loire

Domaine des Hauts de Loire

The Loire Valley, France

Turrets and imposing stone walls covered in a blanket of creeping vines greet you as you arrive at Domaine des Hauts de Loire, an elegantly refined chateau in the Loire Valley.

Renowned for its gourmet food, the hotel is home to a restaurant boasting two Michelin stars, and also has an exceptional cooking school.

The rooms are spread across the main house and the lodges, originally the stables and carriage house, and offer antique furnishings, classic French fabrics and exposed beams.

There's a salon with a crackling fire, a large pool, extensive grounds hosting work by local sculptors and, just a short drive away, all the main historic sights of the Loire Valley.

Domaine des Hauts de Loire offers the quintessential chateau experience and is both effortlessly chic and in keeping with its heritage. We love this property for its stately grounds, friendly service, haute cuisine and lively atmosphere.

Elegant guest rooms are available in both the main chateau and the adjacent carriage house and all offer views of the park from the window, private terrace or balcony. All rooms have been carefully crafted with traditional decor featuring classically French toile de jouy wallpaper, antique furniture, exposed beams and slanted ceilings as well as a modern finish in the crisp linens and amenities such as air conditioning, television and complimentary Wi-Fi. Rooms are also equipped with spacious, chic marble bathrooms with either bath or shower or both.

The historic Domaine des Hauts de Loire is set in extensive woodlands dotted with nature trails, shady alcoves and secluded ponds. This hidden retreat is located along the Loire Valley’s wine route with medieval Amboise just a short drive away and some of the best preserved chateaux such as Chenonceau, Cheverny and Chaumont-sur-Loire all within half an hour's drive.

Food and drink

The hotel’s sophisticated restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and dining is a highlight of any stay. Open for lunch and dinner, it is impeccably furnished with white tablecloths, floral curtains and antique candelabras and serves exquisitely executed dishes based around fresh produce grown in the hotel's vegetable garden. Drinks can be enjoyed in the salon by the fire or on the stone terrace overlooking the park.

Facilities and activities

Most activities at the hotel are based around the property’s expansive grounds. You can relax under the shade of one of the many large pine trees, explore the numerous trails that weave through the grounds, or rent a bicycle. Alternatively, you can while away the hours on the tennis courts or soak up the sun by the outdoor swimming pool.
