Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain

Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain

Paris, France

In the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, just off Rue de l’Université, sits Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain, a hotel exuding the elegance and finesse that is synonymous with Parisian style. Although it has the appearance of a stately townhouse, the hotel manages to feel small and intimate, and it offers all the facilities of a luxury stay with excellent service.

As you walk past the log fires and welcoming armchairs and up the antique spiral staircase, you reach the rooms, naturally bright with high windows that allow plenty of sunlight to stream in. Views from the wrought-iron balconies covered with seasonal flowers look over the hotel’s inner courtyard or the quiet Rue du Pré-aux-Clercs.

The hotel’s sophisticated bar and bistro, Kult, serves fresh, gourmet Parisian dishes, with a short menu that showcases the best of what the city has to offer. There is also the Lounge Saint Vincent, set around a large marble fireplace, perfect for relaxing with an apéritif. The hotel also boasts a traditional hammam (Turkish bath), as well as massage treatment rooms.

OUR OPINION:

This is one of our preferred hotels in Paris, it has an excellent location in Saint-Germain, yet feels like an elegant, stately townhouse with wonderful service and a first rate restaurant.

Rooms

A peaceful sense of nature is ever present in the rooms, with classic floral and bird-patterned wallpaper and curtains, and wrought iron balconies covered in cascading flowers. While offering standard luxury in flat-screen TVs, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, the personal, intimate atmosphere is maintained through giving each room individual touches such as different patterns and photos on the walls and a pillow menu to ensure your bed feels just like home. The spacious bathrooms feature a shower over the bath or walk-in shower and separate bath depending on room category.

Location

The Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighbourhood is found in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, bordered to the north by the banks of the Seine River, a five-minute walk from the hotel. Just a bit further on are the Musée d’Orsay, about a ten-minute walk away, and the Louvre, about a 15-minute walk. The hotel is also just off the famous Rue de l’Université which is lined with boutiques, cafés and small independent art galleries.

Food and drink

The hotel’s Kult bar and bistro is sophisticated and stylish, both in its decor and its menu. Rich reds and purples surround the tables where you can enjoy a short but delicious menu served with simple but expert execution. There is also Le Salon Saint Vincent which is ideal for afternoon coffee or a glass of wine before dinner.

Facilities and activities

The Wellness Room by renowned spa designer Olivier Lecocq offers therapeutic massage treatments as well as organic facial and body treatments individually created for the recipient. There is also a small gym with modern fitness equipment and machines, along with TVs, towels and bottled water. For a bit of exercise outside the hotel, reception is happy to lend vintage bicycles to guests and give directions around the city.

Accessibility

The hotel offers wheelchair access as well as rooms designed to accommodate those with reduced mobility.
