While the Hilton brand might conjure images of a corporate chain, the Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana remains warm and dedicated to visitors visiting Rio for pleasure, not business. Located on the Avenida Atlântica, with a panoramic view of Copacabana, the Hilton is located in Copacabana's tallest and most iconic building on the beach and doesn’t skimp on service.
The hotel’s 39 stories house over 500 rooms and suites, all furnished to a high standard, with 85% of rooms featuring sea views. All rooms feature Wi-Fi, air conditioning, TV, mini bar, private safes, and granite bathrooms, while an upgrade to a suite includes all of the above plus more space and ocean views.
Located at the eastern end of Copacabana near Leme, the Hilton offers a bit of a quieter location than the hotels in the heart of the district. It's situated between postos one and two, which are the lifeguard stations that locals use to demarcate different sections of the beaches. Posto one is great for relative peace and quiet, while things become livelier at posto two, which draws people playing frescobol, a popular local version of beach tennis.
Food and Drink
The hotel's fourth-floor restaurant overlooking the beach, aptly named The View, serves breakfast. For dinner, Alloro serves up traditional Italian and Mediterranean fare and is known for its extensive wine list.
The Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana is a great choice for families. There are several in-house dining options, connecting rooms are easy to come by, and the pools are popular with children. The hotel’s location on a quieter stretch of Copacabana is also appealing.
Facilities and Activities
The hotel features a gym, spa, and full beach service. There are also two swimming pools in the hotel, one on the fourth floor and one on the 39th, the latter with excellent views of the whole bay.
Being a large hotel can have its flaws, but the Hilton has managed to expertly refurbish the property so that it doesn't feel like a large hotel once you're there. The hotel caters to both leisure visitors and a business crowd, and while the lobby can get hectic in the morning with many suit-clad guests heading off to meetings, the property's staff are always personable and attentive to those visiting Rio for pleasure.
