The Grand Hotel National holds court along the glittering banks of Lake Lucerne, the gateway to the Swiss Alps. The hotel offers the height of luxury with its Empire-style rooms and suites, gourmet restaurants, lakefront terraces and exceptional service.
Burgenstock Hotel and Alpine Spa
Perched on a hilltop high above shimmering Lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock Hotel is part of a modern, luxe spa resort offering exceptional views of the lake below.
The most elegant of the resort’s four hotel offerings, it includes access to a golf course, three enormous spa-and-wellness facilities and eight different restaurants, bars and lounges. Inside the glassy modern building, orchids, polished walnut floors and sleek contemporary furniture create an understated yet opulent atmosphere throughout.
All of the rooms are large, with floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize the views either of the lake or over the hills and meadows leading to the Alps. The rooms and suites offer double bathtubs, two-sided fireplaces and views from the tub as well as the bedroom.
The restaurants include fine dining Asian cuisine at Spices, the chic, Michelin-star RitzCoffier and a more causal, traditional menu in the chalet-like Taverne.

All of the rooms and suites are spacious, with panoramic windows. The natural light floods in on the cool neutral tones of the urban chic decor. A double fireplace faces both the sleeping area and the bathroom.
The one- and two-bedroom suites include a freestanding bathtub in the bedroom, a living room and dining table, and mountain and lake views. The Spa Suite includes a private sauna and exclusive massage room, and some of the larger suites include private loggias or rooftop terraces for further enjoying the views.
The Presidential Suite is perhaps the most opulent guestroom in Switzerland, complete with a grand piano, panorama sauna, jacuzzi tub and a dining table for 14. Bluetooth, Apple TV, air conditioning, rain showers and walk-in closets come standard.
The Bürgenstock Hotel and Resort is high on a mountain bearing the same name, whose base is nearly surrounded by Lake Lucerne. To reach it you must take a 20-minute boat journey from Lucerne, then ride a cable tram up the mountain. The reward, besides the secluded resort itself, is the lake and mountain views on all sides.
