La Maddalena

La Maddalena private boat trip

Rocky coves cradling long curves of bone-white sand, deserted shores lapped by turquoise waters, wind-carved granite formations rising from a cerulean sea... Windswept and wild, the archipelago of La Maddalena is known for postcard-perfect seascapes and photogenic scenery.

Climb aboard your private boat to spend the day exploring this remarkable clutch of islands off Sardinia’s northern tip. Your captain will cruise between the islands, giving you a chance to explore innumerable tiny coves and beaches where the sand ranges from pale pink to brilliant white. From deck, you can soak up the ample sunshine.

Your captain will follow your whims, whether you want to go swimming, snorkel, or explore the coves that dot the archipelago.

Located just off the northern tip of Sardinia, La Maddalena is a group of seven main islands and a handful of smaller islets which are separated from Sardinia by the Bocche di Bonifacio strait. The north-westerly wind, known as maestrale, has sculpted the granite stones into striking shapes that rise from the clear waters.

The archipelago’s fragile ecosystem is protected as part of the Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di La Maddalena, a joint Italian and French marine park that’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll spend the day exploring the area from your own private boat.

Your captain will take you along a route that passes many of the most impressive areas of the archipelago. Highlights include a stop at Palau, a 19th-century fortress town on the shore near the islands. On the island of Spargi, you’ll find a boulder-strewn beach tucked inside a cove called Cala Corsara. On Budelli, you can stretch out and soak up the sun on a pink-sand beach, and swim in the deep cove just off the pure-white sandy beach of Cala Coticcio.
