Constance Tsarabanjina

Rooms

The 25 bungalows are named after local trees, fish or flowers and are located on either the north or the south beach. Each bungalow is set at the back of the beach, under the shade of trees. They are built out of rosewood and thatch and stand on raised platforms which form a private veranda with comfortable chairs. Inside there is a main bedroom with double or twin beds, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, minibar and desk. The en suite bathrooms have hot showers. Sun loungers and a parasol adorn the beach in front of each room.

Location

Set on the northwest coast of Madagascar, in the Mitsio Archipelago, Tsarabanjina is a peaceful tropical island. Two beautiful beaches border the island to the north and south offering fine white sand scattered with shells and fringed with clear, turquoise waters and a coral reef offshore. The island is accessible by light aircraft, helicopter or boat from nearby Nosy Be Island.

Constance Tsarabanjina operates on a different time zone to the rest of Madagascar and is one hour ahead. This is to make full use of the daylight on the island.

Food and drink

Set on its own small beach cove, the restaurant is built from the same rosewood as the villas and offers a relaxed atmosphere and excellent ocean views. There are good breakfasts, buffet lunches with lots of choice and à la carte dining for the evening. The local seafood is superb, but a good range of other dishes is also available. The food is mainly French and international cuisine.

Families

Children over the age of four are welcome at Tsarabanjina. There are no specific children's facilities but older children that are happy to explore the island and enjoy the snorkelling will have a good stay.

Facilities and activities

There are many activities available from the lodge. Included in the cost of a stay are snorkelling, waterskiing, sailing and kayaking. The resort also has an 'animation' programme which is luckily very low-key and usually consists of aqua-gym in the sea and boules competitions. Available for an extra cost are fishing, diving and massages in the tiny spa.
