-
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Lilongwe.
-
On arrival in Lilongwe, you will be met and transferred to your light aircraft transfer to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, arriving in the afternoon in time to settle into your room with its views over the Bua River, and your first activity this afternoon.
-
Spend the day exploring this remote wilderness. Walking trails are a speciality here, with plentiful wildlife to see, including the translocated “500 elephants”, buffaloes, sable and plentiful plains wildlife alongside over 280 species of birdlife.
-
From the reserve you will fly by light aircraft up to the Nyika Plateau, Malawi’s oldest park. Here you will be met by a private driver who’ll take you to your lodge where you can enjoy panoramic views of rolling hills and grasslands. You can enjoy a safari drive this afternoon spotting the wealth of plains wildlife – roans and elands are a very special sighting here and numbers are plentiful.
-
You can spend the day exploring the plateau. Activities to choose from include mountain biking, walking and safari drives.
-
Spend another day experiencing the unique surroundings of the Nyika Plateau. You may spot wildlife such as Burchell’s zebras, leopards, hyenas and antelopes in the grassland, as well as a variety of birdlife, of which over 400 species have been spotted.
-
This morning you’ll take an hour and a half light aircraft flight from Nyika to Likoma Island on Lake Malawi. You’ll then be met by your hosts from Kaya Mawa, who will drive you to your beautiful lodgings.
-
You can choose to spend the day out on the lake, where water sports include snorkelling, kayaking, scuba diving, kite surfing, waterskiing and sailing.
-
You may wish to explore the local area today, paying a visit to St Peter’s Cathedral, which was built in 1911 and is in the middle of the island, and visiting local villages and their markets where women can be seen weaving textiles.
-
You could spend your last day on the island relaxing on the beach and dining on delicious meals at Kaya Mawa’s restaurant.
-
You’ll have an hour’s light aircraft transfer to Lilongwe Airport, arriving in time for your onward flight. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
