Taman Negara’s dense virgin rainforest are the setting for an unforgettable jungle experience in one of the world’s oldest tropical woodlands.

After a three- to four-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, a boat journey up the Tembeling River brings you to Peninsular Malaysia’s first and largest national park (4,343 square kilometres).

Wildlife of Taman Negara National Park

Many of the large mammals will remain hidden, but footprints of tigers, gaur and deer are sometimes found along the walking trails and elephants leave evidence of their passage in the form of broken branches in the foliage. You will, however, see monkeys swinging between branches, and the sounds of the insects and birds of the jungle will lull you to sleep at night.

Activities

Basing yourself in the resort hotel at the park’s headquarters, you can follow short and easy ground trails into the forest, take some superb boat trips and venture along the 25-metre high canopy walkways.
