Within its boundaries are a multitude of terrains and geological formations, divided by the Gobi Altai mountains, comprising a number of Umnugobi province's most interesting features.

The park is home to wide range of animal species, including wolf, snow leopard, ibex, argali sheep, and the rare Gobi bear.
