Located in the heart of Ålesund, Scandic Parken is a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the region. The public spaces embrace a vibrant sensibility, with red and yellow rugs, dark wood furnishings, and abstract paintings from local artists. The 197 rooms are much more understated with a palette of pale brown, gold, and white, though many have views overlooking the City Park and Aksla Mountain.

You’ll find an array of eateries here, including Polar Bear (Polarbjørn) restaurant on the ninth floor, which offers panoramic views over the city and surrounding islands. Start your day with breakfast in Gallery Flora, acclaimed within the city for the quality of its breakfast. Brasserie Normandie is a more casual option for a quick lunch, and the lobby bar is a great place for your morning coffee or evening cocktail.

OUR OPINION:

Though Scandic Parken is a bit simple, without many bells and whistles, we love its central location along with the numerous dining options you have to choose from.

Rooms are spare and comfortable, with a muted palette and big windows that offer views of the City Park and Aksla Mountain. There’s a wide range of categories, including suites that can sleep up to four. All rooms have an en suite bathroom and Wi-Fi.

Right in the heart of Ålesund, this hotel is a short walk to many of the city’s major sights. You’re just a three-minute stroll to the seafront and ferry terminal, as well as the city park and Parken Culture House. The Atlanterhavsparken Aquarium and Sunnmøre Museum are both an easy taxi ride away.
