A restored 19th-century palace and national monument, the Pestana Palace Hotel once belonged to the Marquis de Valle Flôr. The lavish interiors have been lovingly preserved in their original style and are coupled with towering ceilings, large windows and an impressive selection of antiques. The grand Restaurant Valle Flôr is set in the palace's former ballroom where breakfast is served each morning between towering gilded columns and a glittering expanse of windows.
Surrounding the palace are tropical gardens where winding paths lead to a pagoda that doubles as a lunch restaurant and a lagoon-style outdoor swimming pool. Shady corners as well as places to sit in the sun offer numerous options to relax with a book or soak up some rays. Alternatively, just beyond the outdoor pool, you’ll find an expansive spa area complete with a large indoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fitness room.
Flanking the gardens are the two main accommodation wings which are newer and attached to the palace by enclosed glass walkways. The rooms within these wings are comfortably furnished in a classical style, while the four opulent Royal Suites are set within the former Marquis' private quarters in the main palace.
The hotel is set in a tranquil residential area just a short journey by taxi or hotel shuttle from central Lisbon.
Please note that there is a local city tax that will need to be paid directly to your hotel for any stay in Lisbon. This tax is subject to change but is usually around one or two euros per person, per night, and will need to be paid upon your departure.

Rooms
The majority of the rooms at the Pestana Palace are situated in two newer wings that flank the central gardens and are linked to the main palace by covered walkways. Views are either of the surrounding area or over the gardens. A selection of second floor rooms have their own balconies. The rooms within these wings are comfortably furnished in a classical style and all feature TVs, air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi.
For a touch of palatial grandeur, the four Royal Suites are situated in the former Marquis' private quarters in the main palace. These opulent suites feature period decor, sumptuous fabrics and a selection of original antiques.
Location
Located in a quiet residential area halfway between central Lisbon and Belém, the hotel is removed from the hustle and bustle of the city yet close enough for easy access to the main sights and attractions. You can reach the heart of city by taxi or take the hotel shuttle that runs three times a day. The journey takes around 20 minutes.
Food and drink
The Pestana Palace offers a number of dining options. By far the most impressive is the grand Restaurant Valle Flôr — the former ballroom of the main palace — where you can enjoy breakfast or an evening meal surrounded by duck-egg blue walls, towering gilded columns and windows overlooking the gardens. Next door you’ll find a comfortable piano bar lined with oil paintings and a selection of antique-filled lounges. In the gardens, there is a sunny, pagoda-style restaurant and pool bar offering lighter lunches.
Facilities and activities
Within the extensive tropical gardens there is a large outdoor pool and plenty of quiet corners to relax on a lounger and soak up the sun. There is also a sizable spa with an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and gym along with a selection of treatment rooms. Inside the main palace, there is a small chapel where evening concerts and Fado (traditional Portuguese music) performances are held. A shuttle bus runs into central Lisbon three times a day.
