Furnas Boutique Hotel
Furnas Boutique Hotel is an idyllic setting just outside central Furnas in which to spend some time relaxing and rejuvenating. Upon entering the hotel lobby, you’ll be greeted with calming scenes of natural landscapes behind the check-in desks, and to your left you’ll find the quirky lobby bar filled with retro decor, with records on the walls and an old typewriter sitting atop the bar.
The 54 rooms are calming and comfortable, with deep green and grey tones on the walls and fresh white linens. All rooms offer air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as tea and coffee facilities and a robe, slippers and towel to use in the pool or spa.
In addition to pampering treatments, the spa offers a complimentary water circuit to all guests in the indoor heated therapeutic pool. There is also an outdoor pool which is cold in the summer, but heated in winter. Both pools use water from the nearby geothermal springs, with heat from the geothermal water removed to cool down the pools and heat water elsewhere in the hotel.
During your stay you may wish to take advantage of the hotel’s daily complimentary activity. Offerings change throughout the year, but can range from cleaning up at a local beach to learning to mix the perfect gin and tonic with the staff at the hotel’s superb restaurant, À Terra.
Rooms are adorned in natural green and grey tones for a relaxing atmosphere. All rooms offer coffee and tea facilities, air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as a robe, towel and slippers for the spa. Rooms on the ground floor also boast terraces with lounge chairs as well as expanded minibar offerings such as cookies and local beer.
The hotel is located just outside the heart of Furnas, about a five to 10-minute walk from the quiet village. In about five minutes you can drive to some nearby hot springs to enjoy the therapeutic waters, or if you’d like to venture a bit further you can visit the nearby towns of Povoação and Nordeste for a stroll through the charming streets.
Food and Drink
The hotel’s signature restaurant, À Terra, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily in the indoor dining area or outside on the patio. Breakfast technically ends at 11am, but if you’d rather have a late morning the restaurant will be happy to bring out a few breakfast items for you if you ask. For guests with an early departure there is a small breakfast of coffee, ham and pastries laid out in the lobby bar. Lunch and dinner feature local items such as fresh fish or beef, as well as excellent pizzas from the wood-fired oven.
Facilities and Activities
Guests can take advantage of a complimentary circuit in the heated indoor pool with therapeutic jets, filled with water from the local geothermal springs. There is also an outdoor pool which is cool in summer and heated in the winter. In the afternoon, the outdoor pool also offers bar service from the restaurant. If you’d like to pamper yourself you can take advantage of several spa treatments, or you may wish to stay active in the state-of-the-art gym. In addition to all of the facilities on site, the hotel offers daily free activities, such as tea workshops, mixology lessons or a weekly fun clean at the local beach.
The hotel has an adapted room featuring wider doorways and a walk-in shower.
