Vila Joya

Vila Joya

Algarve, Portugal

Set close to the popular beach resort of Albufeira, Villa Joya is an elegant and tranquil retreat that offers the ideal respite from its busier surroundings. With views over the large terraced gardens to the ocean and direct access to a quiet sandy beach, it feels like a secluded oasis.

With just 22 rooms the property offers exclusive luxury and exceptional service along with an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The decor is of the highest quality and a palate of warm, neutral tones runs throughout. Nearly all rooms have ocean views along with their own balcony or terrace while the grounds offer a wide array of amenities.

Guests can enjoy a treatment in the spa which has a subtle Moorish theme, unwind in the large, outdoor pool which is heated year round, or make use of the tennis courts. The two-Michelin star restaurant offers innovative Portuguese fare and an extensive wine list, while there is also a more casual sushi fusion restaurant located down on the beach.

We love the boutique elegance of Vila Joya as well as the expansive ocean views. The amenities on offer here are far in excess of what you would expect from such a small hotel.

Each of the 22 rooms at Vila Joya is tastefully decorated in a palette of warm taupe, ivory and deep brown which provides a soft contrast to the verdant gardens and the cerulean sea which surround the property. Throughout, antique furniture and traditional Portuguese tiling combine with contemporary design to give an impression of sophisticated comfort. All rooms have ocean views and most have a balcony or terrace to soak up the scenery, as well as all modern conveniences such as air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations and minibars.

One of the most attractive aspects of the Vila Joya is the location. The hotel is set in a tranquil spot on the ocean with direct access to a secluded beach via a set of stone stairs, yet is also within walking distance of the restaurants, bars and shops in Albufeira.

Food and drink

The Vila Joya’s two-Michelin star restaurant offers one of the most sought-after dining experiences in the country. Dinner is the main event with a daily changing tasting menu that offers an innovative take on fresh seafood and local ingredients. Lunch is lighter but just as impressive with dishes chosen from an à la carte menu. An extensive wine list is also available and both food and wine are enjoyed with sea views. For those looking for a more casual dining experience, there is also a restaurant on the beach offering fusion seafood and sushi during the summer.

A full buffet breakfast is served in the main restaurant in the morning with options to cater to all tastes.

Facilities and activities

In addition to direct beach access, Vila Joya offers two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is heated year round, tennis facilities and terraced gardens. A spacious spa offers a variety of treatments and facilities for those looking to relax.
