Kirawira Camp, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Kirawira Camp is located in the Serengeti's western corridor area. It is set up on a hill with views of the Serengeti below.
There are 25 tents, dotted around the hill which are large and well furnished with polished wooden floors, hardwood and leather wardrobes, big writing desks, leather luggage racks and beds with patchwork quilts and large mosquito nets. The en suite bathrooms have basins, large mirrors and showers with plenty of hot water. Each tent has electricity and there are wide verandas.
The main lodge is also all under canvas. There is a large living room and bar area with deep leather chairs, tables, and plenty of snacks for tea and pre-dinner drinks. The two dining rooms have tables with starched white linen and excellent food menu. At breakfast long-tailed glossy starlings hop around outside looking for crumbs. Lunches are often taken as picnics in the park and dinners are three or four course a la carte meals. Finally, there's a big pool and sunny deck, ideal for the heat of the day.
