The 50 spacious villas and residences have been designed with a natural style inspired by Maldivian heritage and culture, with custom-made furnishings used throughout. At the same time, each offers modern luxuries to bring them into the 21st century. Floor-to-ceiling windows enhance the views.
All accommodation options offer a pool on the sun deck, a large daybed, a hanging Maldivian chair-swing (known as an ‘undhoali') and a private wine fridge. You'll also find air conditioning, a flat screen TV and tea/coffee facilities. All guests have an island host, who'll be on hand to assist you and ensure you have a pleasant and comfortable stay.
The resort is situated in the Baa Atoll, a 35-minute seaplane flight from Male. Arriving by seaplane is one of the best ways to take in the hundreds of atolls that make up the Maldives.
The Baa Atoll was declared the Indian Ocean’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2011. It supports one of the largest groups of coral reefs in the region, and measures are in place to ensure a harmonious balance between human activity and nature. Milaidhoo is fringed with soft, white sand and bordered by a lagoon — this is why you'll find the house reef. The island is very small — it takes just over five minutes to walk around its shoreline.
Milaidhoo has three restaurants and two bars, all offering fantastic food and drink options in an informal setting — no shoes are required.
Ba’theli is the signature restaurant, shaped like three traditional wooden sailing boats or ‘dhonis'. Diners sit 'on deck’ under the stars, cooled by refreshing sea breezes. Alternatively, you can sit inside with air conditioning. Glass floors allow you to watch the marine life below. Open for dinner each evening, it focuses on serving fresh seafood, with traditional ingredients given a modern twist.
The Shoreline Grill is set right on the beachfront. Open for dinner, it offers fine cuts of meat and seafood. At the chef’s table, dishes are cooked in front of you and chefs can tailor the meal to your tastes.
The main restaurant, Ocean, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has views out over the water.
Enjoy a pre-dinner drink with your feet in the sand as the sun sets at the Compass Pool Bar. Here, you can relax in a hanging chair while listening to the light music playing in the background. Snacks, salads, pizzas, sandwiches and sushi are also available here through the day.
The resort can arrange a number of experiences that take you out onto the water, from dolphin cruises and fishing to a sandbank picnic lunch or romantic dinner for two.
This is one of the best hotels in the Maldives, offering unrivalled service and snorkelling. If you’re looking for barefoot luxury that feels like home this is a great choice.
