The Corinthia

London, UK

This sumptuous property located off London’s Embankment offers a superb level of service and accommodation. Ascending the steps to the front door, you’ll be greeted by an attentive doorman who’ll escort you into the cool, elegant, marble-floored lobby. The chic lounge is dominated by a grand Baccarat crystal chandelier hanging from the domed ceiling. A centrepiece of the hotel, the chandelier is known as the Crystal Moon and is overlooked by many of the guest rooms. The rooms have a stylish, contemporary elegance, with a blue, green and grey palette and modern art adorning the walls. The hotel offers several exquisite dining options in addition to the services of a cigar sommelier and the spa’s therapists, beauticians, acupuncturists and personal trainers.

OUR OPINION:

We are in awe of the copious facilities offered by the Corinthia Hotel London and love its contemporary yet elegant style.

Rooms

Rooms are spacious and stylish with contemporary decor using tones of blue, green and grey. Each room has its own small entrance hall and all rooms feature modern amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, a Nespresso coffee machine, an in-room media hub, international plug sockets and a flat screen TV. Bathrooms are marble and have underfloor heating. All have a separate bath and walk-in rain shower. Most rooms have oversized beds, and the hotel has only a few with twin configurations. Views differ and can overlook the central Crystal Moon Lounge, Whitehall Place or the river.

Location

Situated adjacent to the Embankment tube station and about a ten-minute walk from sites such as Westminster, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square, the Corinthia Hotel London has a superb location. Riverside walks along the Thames are accessed by simply crossing the road while the cultural Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall and National Theatre are just across the river.

Food and drink

The Northall restaurant has high ceilings, wooden parquet floors and a marble central bar. It serves a buffet selection as well as à la carte options for breakfast, while its lunch and dinner menu focuses on seasonal, British food. The Amalfi Coast-inspired Massimo serves exquisite Italian cuisine in a glittering Art Deco inspired room with huge, striped columns. The Crystal Moon Lounge and inner Garden Terrace serve afternoon tea.

Facilities and activities

The ESPA spa is vast with its swimming pool, sauna, steam room, numerous treatment rooms and superb fitness facilities stretching over four floors. There is also a hair salon and makeup studio. The spa has its own therapists, personal trainers and beauticians, as well as acupuncturists and osteopaths.
