The 140 rooms are all contemporary in style with clean lines, soft hues, comfortable furnishings and striking black-and-white vintage photos. Muted purples and dusky pinks in the headboards, armchairs and cushions add a hint of vibrancy to the pale greys, and while each room is individual in size and layout, all are equipped with modern amenities such as digital TV, free Wi-Fi and an MP3 system. Higher room categories are considerably larger and have marble bathrooms, Harris Tweed fabrics, Egyptian cotton sheets and duck-down duvets and pillows.
A prestigious square of Georgian townhouses just northwest of the main train station in central Glasgow, Blythswood Square is a convenient and tranquil location. It is just over a ten-minute walk to the Gallery of Modern Art and Glasgow City Chambers, and about a 15-minute drive from the airport.
Food and drink
The Restaurant, set in the former ballroom of the Royal Scottish Automobile Club, is the hotel’s main dining venue. Its understated elegance and muted tones are matched by a menu offering a modern take on classic Scottish dishes using local ingredients such as Isle of Mull cheddar, Shetland mussels and Highland venison. The Salon is a chic bar which serves morning coffee, afternoon teas and evening cocktails as well as light dishes such as sharing plates and sandwiches.
