Jump to:
Victoria is probably best known for Melbourne. Though this confident, urbane city is a priority for many visitors, it can also mask the state’s other attractions, which include winelands, mountains and coastal national parks. Our Australia specialists know Melbourne and its environs well, but they can also suggest quieter alternatives to the city. There are the lavender fields of the Mornington Peninsula (an area beloved of artists, gastronomists and vintners), the vineyards of the Yarra Valley, and Phillip Island, which plays host to colonies of little penguins that engage in nightly parades. And, you have the option to linger in all of these places, rather than pay fleeting day visits.
The state’s other landmark is the Great Ocean Road, the grande dame of Australian coastal drives and one of the world’s classic road trips. Our Australia team can provide you with guidance on how to get the most out of the route. They’ll also explain how you can use your time in Victoria to try out some rewarding off-the-tourist-trail suggestions. For example, you could link the wild Wilsons Promontory National Park into a longer trip with Phillip Island and the Mornington Peninsula, or extend your Great Ocean Road journey into the mountainscapes of the Grampians National Park.
