An intimate camp with a personal feel, each of Shinde's guest tents has been thoughtfully positioned to offer views across either the Okavango’s waterways or open grasslands, allowing you to sit back and keep a look out for the incredible wildlife found here.

The open-sided central self-service bar and dining area is an impressive structure, comprising raised wooden decks on various levels with a bowed canvas roof. The social hub of the camp, this is the place to come for an evening of socializing over food and drink, sharing tales from your day's safari.

The location of the camp allows for the opportunity to experience both water and land-based activities year-round, providing a well-rounded experience for your stay in the bush.

OUR OPINION:

Shinde is one of our favorite camps in the Delta, and we can highly recommend both the game drives and boat safaris here.

Rooms

The eight twin-bedded safari-style tents are decorated in subtle, natural hues and boast firm mattresses, bedside tables, an open armoire for clothes and a luggage rack. All of the tents also feature a spacious en suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Three of the tents are set a little further away from the main lodge in an area known as the 'Enclave', which has its own deck and small dining area and can be booked as a private camp, complete with private guiding, activities and dining.

Location

Set on a lush palm island on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, the camp is located in the heart of Botswana’s northern Okavango Delta, surrounded by waterways attracting a variety of birdlife and game.

Food and drink

The food here is traditional safari fare and served in the impressive communal dining area, under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.

Facilities and activities

Year-round activities include private game drives in open 4x4s and walking safaris. However, the highlights are the mokoro and boat trips which are a great way to explore the game-rich Delta. For fly-fishing enthusiasts, Shinde also offers fishing (seasonal) for a variety of species, such as tilapia and tiger fish.
