Waterberg Wilderness Lodge

Waterberg Wilderness Lodge is situated in a valley at the foot of Waterberg Plateau.

The lodge is surrounded by the nature conservancy of Waterberg Plateau National Park which is home to a number of threatened species such as buffalo, rhino, leopard, vulture and several antelope species. It is also a haven for over 200 species of birds.

The lodge is situated on the farm Otjosongombe which extends from the foot of the Waterberg up to the plateau. There are 12 rooms here, shaded by pretty jacaranda trees. Each room is spacious and simple in its design, with terracotta tiled floors, twin beds with mosquito nets and en suite bathrooms with hot running water. One room has a second bedroom with an additional bed, but the bathroom is shared. There is also a family cottage, formerly the owners' house, which has three separate bedrooms, a simple lounge and a large family bathroom.

Food here is simple and not particularly imaginative, but is tasty enough.

There are three small pools at the lodge and activities include guided hiking tours of the Waterberg Plateau, scenic drives and visits to cave art. The walks can be quite strenuous to get to the top of the plateau so if you're unsure please discuss whether it is suitable for your level of fitness with the lodge managers.
