Part of the expedition fleet for some years now, this ship has undergone a transformation into the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) Resolute. Though capable of carrying well over 200 passengers, the limit of 146 ensures ample space for everyone (and for extra staff) on expeditions. Modern stabilizers and the highest ice-class rating are two of the vessel’s unseen features.
Taking her name from the Royal Navy's exploration vessel and the Canadian Inuit town, the Resolute also carries the initials of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Built in 1993 and fully refurbished in 2017, she can compete with the best boats in the Polar fleet. This, combined with the highest ice-class rating and modern stabilizers, makes her one of the safest and steadiest ships to sail on.
All the cabins include an en suite bathroom and provide facilities like tea- and coffee-making equipment, a TV, and a snack menu/non-alcoholic minibar. You also have free use of expedition gear such as clothing, binoculars, trekking poles and a waterproof rucksack.
The ship has lost none of her comfort from her past life as a luxury cruise liner, including the cabins. They range from triple berths to spacious suites, all en suite and with windows or portholes. Most can be configured as twin or double bedrooms, and higher tiers of cabin give you extra benefits, from superior bedding to a minibar.
