Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt, London

Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt

London, The UK

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt is housed in a collection of ten townhouses on an attractive street in Kensington. This boutique hotel has contemporary British decor yet has retained the buildings’ historical features such as stained glass windows, original staircases and intricate ceiling detail.

The lobby sets the scene, with a black and white tiled floor and comfortable seating around a marble fireplace, on top of which sits a large stone statue of a hare. Scoff and Banter, the amusingly named gastropub-style restaurant has a more casual feel with wooden floors, leafy plants and lots of natural light. Rooms are minimalist, with neutral gray, white and yellow tones and elegant and comfortable modern furniture.

OUR OPINION:

Service here is excellent and we particularly like the boutique nature of the restaurant and bar. We also love the quiet yet central location of the hotel.

Rooms

Rooms are modern in style with a gray, white and yellow palette. Each differs in size and shape, and gets more spacious with higher room categories. All feature international sockets, a plasma TV and complimentary Wi-Fi. En suite marble bathrooms mostly have a shower over a bath. Due to the historic nature of the buildings, rooms on the top floor have lower ceilings. Deluxe rooms upwards feature a Nespresso coffee machine and an oversize bed, and most rooms also have a sofa which can be transformed into a sofa bed.

Location

Situated on Cromwell Road, just a two-minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station in Kensington, the hotel is within walking distance of many of London’s key attractions. The main museums are only a short walk away, and Hyde Park can be reached in 20 minutes on foot. Cromwell Road itself is an attractive residential street, but just five minutes’ walk away are numerous restaurants, shops and cafés.

Food and drink

Scoff and Banter is the hotel’s restaurant, a large, open-plan room with wooden floors, high ceilings and eclectic decor. It serves an à la carte menu of traditional British pub dishes in addition to afternoon tea and an impressive selection of wines, spirits and craft beers.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a small gym and can offer jogging maps of the local area.
