Villa Langka

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Villa Langka is a boutique hotel set in a converted colonial house, conveniently located in central Phnom Penh but away from the hustle and bustle.

The hotel's rooms are spread across two wings — an older wing with traditionally furnished rooms and a new wing with a more contemporary feel. Meals are served in the open-air restaurant situated in the attractive courtyard garden, where you'll also find an inviting swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers and green foliage.

The hotel staff are friendly, and the ambiance is relaxed and informal.

OUR OPINION:

The original building of Villa Langka is a converted house dating back to the colonial days, and in places you may find it's a little worn around the edges. However, we think this only adds to its ramshackle charm, making the villa a wonderfully atmospheric place to stay in the heart of the city. The hotel's newer wing is great for those who prefer rooms with a more modern feel. The bathrooms used to be open plan, but they now have doors, which is an advantage.

Rooms

The hotel's rooms are equally split between the more traditional Khmer villa and new contemporary styled building. They span six different categories and are each individually designed to reflect the area's heritage while combining comfort and charm. Amenities in each room include air-conditioning, TVs, minibars, safes and hair dryers.

Standard Single and Standard Double rooms are the entry-level categories and, while somewhat smaller than the other rooms, still provide all the modern facilities you would need to enjoy your stay. Superior Double and Superior Twin rooms are slightly bigger, with some benefiting from having their own private balcony, while Deluxe rooms offer further space, featuring semi-separate living areas and their own private balcony. Suites are the most spacious option, situated in the Khmer villa and blending Asian and colonial decor.

Location

Just a stone’s throw away from Independence Monument and a short walk away from the Royal Palace and waterfront, the hotel is ideally located right in the heart of Phnom Penh.

Food and drink

The terrace restaurant overlooking the pool is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the resident chef sources many of his ingredients from the local markets. There's also a poolside bar serving exotic cocktails, fresh fruit juices and other refreshing beverages.

Families

Deluxe rooms and Suites can fit an additional bed and/or cot for those travelling with children.

Facilities and activities

In addition to the outdoor pool and pleasant gardens, there's a shop selling clothing and souvenirs. The emphasis here is on relaxation and exploring the sites around Phnom Penh.
