Enjoy aerial views as you travel by helicopter and hike into the wilderness of the Canadian Rockies on this three-night trip.
In the heart of the Purcell Mountains, a little to the west of Banff, lies a wonderland of untouched Canadian wilderness surrounded by the Bugaboos and Bobbie Burns mountains. This three-night, four-day adventure sees you take to the skies by helicopter, hike above deep valleys in the shadows of towering granite mountains, and stay at comfortable, remote lodges with surrounding alpine views.
You’ll be picked up early in the morning from your hotel in Banff or Lake Louise for the transfer west, through two national parks, due to arrive at the helipad for the first helicopter flight to the lodge. After a helicopter safety talk, you’ll climb in and soar up for an afternoon of getting acquainted with the mountains.
The next two days typically begin at about 9 am with a helicopter departure making the short but dramatic trip to the timberline. Divided into groups (8 to 11 people) according to ability, energy, and inclination, each group with its own guide will spend the morning roaming and hiking in pristine mountain landscapes, spotting glacial lakes, massive icefields and panoramic cirques.
Over the course of the day, you may travel by helicopter to three or four different areas to give you the chance to experience a variety of terrain and scenery, including alpine meadows, deep river valleys, and ancient glaciers. Distances covered each day can vary from 1 – 15 km (1 – 9 miles). All meals are included in your stay, along with transport to and from the helipad, and all helicopter trips.
