Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Quito. On arrival in Quito you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

  • This morning you will take the short flight to Coca followed by a speedboat transfer to board the MV Anakonda. Amazon activities begin this afternoon.

  • This morning, you'll likely disembark and go ashore for short guided walks through the rainforest to explore its flora and fauna. In the afternoon, as your vessel enters the blackwater systems of the Amazon Basin, you might take a canoe trip upstream. Look out for pink river dolphins as well as several species of monkey: black-mantled tamarins, red howlers and squirrel monkeys.

  • After breakfast, you will start the day off by visiting an authentic Kichwa family on the banks of the Napo River, where you will have the opportunity to learn directly from members of the local community. In the afternoon your vessel will sail upstream to explore some of the larger river islands.

  • Today might see you visiting a local community and learning about their traditional handicrafts, observing the wildlife spectacle of a parrot clay lick, and spending time in Limoncocha Biological Reserve (a nature reserve with over 400 bird species). At dusk, keep an eye out for black cayman.

  • After breakfast you will travel back to Coca to take a morning flight to Quito. Upon arrival you will be driven to your hotel in a private vehicle.

  • Enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Quito.

  • This morning you will be transferred to the station to begin your adventure by rail on the Tren Crucero. Travel through the famous Avenue of Volcanoes to Cotopaxi.

  • Day two of your train journey as you travel through the highlands to Riobamba.

  • Day three of the Tren Crucero, taking the exciting journey by steam locomotive past the famous Devil's Nose.

  • On the final day of your train journey you will pass through banana and sugarcane plantations before arriving in Guayaquil this afternoon. Transfer to your hotel.

  • Free morning in Guayaquil. This afternoon transfer to the airport for your international flight home.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
